June 6, 2006 marked a sad day in Fontaine Ferry Park history. Four days before that I learned that
the ferris wheel from Fontaine Ferry had been up and running at Bell's Amusement Park
in Tulsa, Oklahoma since around 1976. On June 6, tornados ripped
though Tulsa and destroyed the ferris wheel. As one local news station reported, the ferris wheel was "crumpled".
I have added a link with the only photos I have. 2006 would have been its 80th birthday. I'd
like to give special thanks to Kyle in Tulsa for all of the information and
photos. I should have known something bad would happen on 06/06/06.
I've found information on a carousel at Carousel Center (Destiny USA) in Syracuse, NY. Their site claimed the
1909 PTC #18 was originally in a park in Louisville, KY. I've emailed several people for help with this. If anyone
has information on this, please let me know. I suspect it may have been from White City.
